Statement No. 5 of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and the National Committee on International Humanitarian Law documents the March 5, 2026 U.S. submarine strike on the destroyer Dena, a training vessel returning from an international naval exercise in India, which killed 84 crew members and cadets, left 20 missing, and wounded 32 more near the territorial waters of Sri Lanka. The statement identifies at least ten discrete violations of international humanitarian law, including breaches of Geneva Convention II, the San Remo Manual, and the law of neutrality.
