Description
On April 5, 2026, at 2:05 a.m., a US-Israeli drone strike hit a Pride passenger car near the village of Vezg-e Mansurabad, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, at kilometer 27 of the old Yasuj–Shiraz road in Boyer-Ahmad County. Three people traveling in the car were killed.
Fattah Mohammadi, political and security deputy to the governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, told Defa Press that the three victims were on their way to the site of a fish-farming project in the Vezg area of Yasuj when they were targeted by a drone. Abbas Beheshti, governor of Boyer-Ahmad County, told ILNA that drones had struck the tribal summer-pasture areas of Vezg and Kakan overnight, killing three people in Vezg, and described those killed as innocent people.
The strike was one of several in the province that night. According to Mohammadi, a separate drone strike near Kakan killed two people, and an attack on the Kuh-e Siah area of Kohgiluyeh County killed five people and injured seven others.
IHL consideration
Officials described the victims as members of the public traveling by private car to an agricultural site, and no available report indicates that the vehicle or its occupants were engaged in military activity. If so, targeting the car may have violated the principle of distinction, which prohibits attacks directed at civilians and civilian objects, as well as the obligation to take all feasible precautions to verify that a target is a military objective before attacking.
