Strike on Shahidan Esmaili Sports Complex in Tehran

On March 5, 2026, the Shahidan Esmaili Sports Complex in District 18 of southwestern Tehran was struck by a missile and largely destroyed. Red Crescent data records one death and three injuries, and the available public sources do not independently establish the casualty count. The head of Tehran Municipality's sports organization said the complex was one of three sports facilities directly hit and completely destroyed. The District 18 mayor described it as a fully public sports center that had served local young people for about 20 years, and said the damage was too severe for a simple repair.
