Airstrike on 14-Story Residential Tower, Shahid Chamran town, Nobonyad Square

In the pre-dawn hours of 13 June 2025, an Israeli airstrike struck and completely destroyed a 14-story residential apartment building inside Shahrak Shahid Chamran, a large residential complex located near Nobonyad Square in northeastern Tehran. According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB and confirmed by multiple domestic and international media, at least 60 residents of the building were killed, including 20 children; 38 bodies had been recovered from the rubble by the time of the first reports, with 10 children — including infants under nine months old — still beneath the debris. A further 50+ people were wounded, of whom 35 were women and children transferred to Chamran Hospital (ILNA). The building was fully collapsed by the impact. The Ghalehvand family — Pilates instructor Niloufar Ghalehvand (30), her father Kamran Ghalehvand, and her mother Fatemeh Sedighi — were killed in this strike. According to a detailed account published by Rasanews, the family had been awake the night before planning a trip to the Caspian Sea for the long weekend; the first wave of drones arrived in the early hours, tearing through the residential complex. No prior warning was issued to residents. The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) condemned Israeli strikes on densely populated residential areas.
