Description

In the morning hours of Wednesday, 13 Esfand 1404 (March 4, 2026), three missiles struck the Shahrak Shahid Boroujerdi residential complex in southeastern Tehran's District 15. The complex, a multi-block civilian apartment estate built from 1995 onward, houses approximately 8,200 residents in 140 brick residential blocks across three phases. Residents and journalists arriving on the scene described multiple collapsed apartment floors, fires burning across the compound, and smoke rising visibly over the city skyline.

Eyewitness accounts gathered by Fararu and Sharq newspaper reported that the bodies of at least 20 residents had been recovered from the rubble by the time reporters arrived. A resident named Zadehkamand, quoted in the Sharq report, stated he personally witnessed eight bodies in the first minutes: "They were in pieces. Half the body of a woman was hanging from a balcony and the other half was gone." Another longtime resident described pulling a teenage boy from the rubble with his own hands, alive but unable to move, who asked about his family.

A shopkeeper in the compound stated he witnessed a severed head hanging from a window railing. A mother was seen waiting at the rubble site in the early morning after her son called her to say he was alive and trapped; search teams found no one at the location. Approximately 20–30 vehicles in adjacent alleyways were crushed flat by the blast waves. Ground-floor commercial units serving the residential complex were also heavily damaged.

The complex was a purely civilian zone. It was originally built for Ministry of Defense Industries personnel and teachers, and subsequently became a mixed civilian residential neighbourhood. No military infrastructure was confirmed at the strike site.
