Description

The attack occurred at 2:23 p.m. on Monday, April 6, with multiple projectiles reportedly hitting different parts of the Shiraz Petrochemical Complex. According to the reported account, the resulting fire was brought under control within the first few minutes. The Marvdasht authorities characterized the physical damage as limited to a small section of the complex and reported no fatalities. A separate report, however, stated that the complex was completely shut down following the attack. It further reported that urea production had already been halted during the preceding week and that the ammonia storage tanks had been emptied as a precaution. The complex is a subsidiary of Parsian Holding, in which Iran's Ministry of Defense is the majority shareholder. The report identifies the complex as a major urea producer, accounting for approximately 18% of Iran's urea production.
