Airstrike on Isfahan University of Technology

The second strike on IUT occurred within a wider pattern of systematic attacks on Iranian higher education institutions during the 2026 conflict. Iranian academic and student news agency SNN documented that over the course of the war, Iranian universities sustaining direct enemy attack included the Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran, and Isfahan University of Technology twice, alongside widespread indirect damage to the University of Isfahan, Isfahan University of Art, Isfahan Science and Technology Town, 13 buildings of Urmia University in West Azerbaijan, and further institutions across the country. Al Jazeera reported that within days of the second IUT attack, Iranian officials told the outlet that the US and Israel's attacks on academic institutions were aimed at erasing Iranian identity.
