Strike Near Imam Reza School, Abyek

On February 28, 2026, U.S.-Israeli forces carried out a strike near Imam Reza Elementary School in Abyek, Qazvin Province, while students were in the school courtyard. The resulting explosion and fragments killed 11-year-old student Mahyar Zangeneh and injured several other students. The injured students were taken to medical facilities, with some treated and discharged.

According to accounts reported by Mehr and Fars, the impact occurred near the school's water reservoir. The explosion sent debris and fragments into the school grounds, where students were present. CCTV footage published by Mehr shows the moment of the explosion and students and school staff reacting and moving to safety. The reports do not establish that the school building itself was directly struck.
