Description

On June 14, 2025, an Israeli attack targeted the Shahr-e Rey Oil Depot in southern Tehran. The initial reports described damage to a fuel storage tank at the depot and the subsequent outbreak of fire. According to the reports cited by Donyaye Eqtesad, the amount of fuel contained in the affected tank was relatively low, and emergency and operational teams were immediately deployed to the site. The situation was reported to be under control.

A subsequent report by Javan Online, published approximately one week after the incident, provided additional information about the condition of the damaged tank. An energy-sector specialist interviewed by the outlet said that the material still burning at the site consisted of petroleum products remaining in the damaged tank. According to the specialist, the controlled burning of residual fuel was being carried out to reduce the risk of leakage and a larger explosion. Technical and crisis-management teams were reportedly monitoring the site around the clock, while air-quality and environmental indicators were being continuously monitored.
