Description
During the US-Israeli military offensive against Iran, Shohada-ye Khalij-e Fars Educational & Medical Center in Bushehr sustained severe damage from multiple missile and bomb explosions in its immediate vicinity. The hospital, a 280-bed public teaching institution affiliated with Bushehr University of Medical Sciences and the primary referral hospital for the province, suffered structural and operational damage across multiple departments and was temporarily removed entirely from service. At the time of the attack, the pediatric ward was occupied by a significant number of hospitalised children. Medical staff carried out an emergency evacuation of all patients to alternative facilities within a few hours, preventing the chain of healthcare from being fully severed. Technical assessments of the extent of damage were initiated by the university. The attack was publicly confirmed by Allahkaram Akhlaghi, President of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences, and independently reported by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (Helal Ahmar) in its cumulative Bulletin No. 6, which listed the hospital among 14 medical and pharmaceutical facilities damaged nationally. Iran's Deputy Minister of Health, Ali Reza Raeisi, later confirmed during a visit to Bushehr that the hospital was one of 12 hospitals put out of service across the country, singling it out by name. Members of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee also visited the site as part of a post-strike assessment delegation to Bushehr Province.
