Description

On the night of March 28-29, 2026, US and Israeli forces conducted an airstrike on the village of Osmavandan in Shaft County, Gilan Province. The strike targeted a residential zone, striking civilian homes directly.1

According to reports citing Iran's Mehr news agency and Tasnim news agency, two people were killed immediately in the attack, while four others succumbed to their injuries later in hospital, bringing the total death toll to six. Five additional individuals were reported injured. Ali Bagheri, the deputy for political, security and social affairs of the Gilan governorate, was quoted by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) confirming the fatalities and injuries.

The attack caused extensive damage to civilian property. According to the governor of Shaft, "32 residential units and 33 households have been damaged, of which 6 units have been completely destroyed. Additionally, 3 commercial units and 16 vehicles have been damaged."3He added, "The Red Crescent Society, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the law enforcement forces, utility service providers, the health network, electricity, water, gas authorities, the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, and the road maintenance department were among the organizations that intervened promptly."
