Airstrike on Shahran Oil Depot, Tehran

Israel targeted the Shahran oil depot and a fuel tank in southern Tehran, causing an explosion and subsequent widespread fire in the capital’s infrastructure. Two oil depots in southern and northern Tehran, located in the Shahr-e Ray and Shahran areas, were targeted. 19.5 million liters of fuel were burned in the attack, equivalent to 6 percent of Iran’s peak gasoline and diesel consumption for just one day. The oil and gasoline depots were attacked, causing a power outage in the Shahran neighborhood. According to the Ministry of Oil, the amount of fuel targeted was limited and the fire was contained within the first few hours. There was no disruption to the capital’s fuel supply. Four fuel depot workers, two tanker drivers, and three factory guards were killed and dozens more were injured.
