Their story
Mahmoud Arab Mokhtari was one of the 10 nomads who were killed during the US operation in the "Dasht-e Porzan" area of Jarqavieh County, south of Isfahan. According to eyewitnesses and local nomads, the operation began around midnight on April 5, 2026, and continued until 7:00 AM. The sounds of helicopters and fighter jets could be heard by the nomads from midnight onward, but they had little information due to the darkness of the night and the long distance.
This area is located 70 kilometers south of Isfahan near the Isfahan–Shiraz Freeway, known as "Dasht-e Porzan." It is about 15 kilometers from the nomadic town of Nasrabad, and an abandoned airfield is situated nearby. During the warm season, the majority of the region's nomads were staying in the Band-e Arabha area. During those days, a number of them were engaged in farming and livestock herding at local agricultural wells.
Around 1:00 AM, two eyewitnesses noticed that the electricity at the livestock farm where they worked had been cut off, which was caused by an attack targeting the electricity office of Mahyar village, also cutting power to all agricultural wells in the area. They heard the sounds of fighter jets and helicopters, but due to the darkness of the night and the distance to the abandoned airfield, they had no further details. The two nomads contacted local law enforcement to report the incident. In total, 10 nomads from this area were killed during the attacks carried out by US military forces that night.
