Tabassum Pak: A mother who was killed just a few steps away from hugging her child

She was on her way home, returning from work to calm her teenage daughter and tell her not to be afraid of the sounds of war, when she was killed in her personal car. Before heading home, she had told her cousin not to worry, as she was on her way, but she did not answer any calls afterward.

Sara, Tabassom’s cousin, told Ham-Mihan newspaper that after Tabassom’s messages went unanswered, her brother checked her location and found that she had stopped in the alley next to her house: “Then the family went to that alley and realized that due to the blast wave and falling debris on her car, she had been killed right there. Tabassom was among the first victims found and transported by rescue workers that day. She was passing through the alley next to her home, on her way to park the car and go to her daughter.”

Sara shared that from Sunday to Tuesday, the family searched for Tabassom’s body-in hospitals and at the forensic center in Kahrizak-and they were finally able to find her on Tuesday.

According to Behesht-e Zahra’s online database, Tabassom was buried on Wednesday, June 18th, in section 42 of the cemetery. The database records her date of birth as April 10th, 1977, which differs from what was reported in Elnaz Mohammadi’s article in Ham-Mihan newspaper.
