A Unique Ophthalmic Equipment Specialist

Farzaneh Aghaei was a 51-year-old eye surgeon. On Sunday, June 15, 2025 , while she was alone at her home on Mahnaz Street in the Abbas Abad neighborhood of Tehran, a deadly explosion occurred during Israeli attacks. At the time, Farzaneh was talking on the phone with one of her colleagues. After the explosion, her colleague tried to reach her multiple times but was unable to. The next day, they received the tragic news that Farzaneh had died in the attack.

Farzaneh held a bachelor’s degree in nursing and was a retired head nurse and operating room technician specializing in eye surgeries. For about 20 years before retiring, she managed eye operating rooms in specialized hospitals in Tehran. Her deep expertise in surgical procedures and medical equipment made her a rare and valuable figure in her field.

In recent years, Farzaneh worked as a sales manager for a medical equipment company focused on ophthalmic surgical instruments. According to documents from the Hammihan Media Group, her colleagues praised her kindness, patience, and patriotism. “She was the most knowledgeable person about the surgical process, equipment, and protocols for eye surgery,” said one colleague. “Her skills as an operating room technician and medical engineer were unmatched in the entire country.”

Minoo, another colleague, described Farzaneh as “a retired head nurse with vast experience, kind, patient, and a devoted patriot.” Israel killed Farzaneh in its airstrikes, and now the operating rooms of the hospitals where she worked have lost an intelligent, dedicated, and skilled professional.
