Description
On the evening of Saturday, 9 Esfand 1404 (28 February 2026) — the first day of the Ramadan War, missiles struck Jajarudi Street in the Resalat residential district of eastern Tehran. The attack directly hit at least two residential apartment complexes, each containing 20 units, causing their complete structural collapse. The blast wave and debris extended more than 300 metres, shattering windows and causing severe damage to buildings along adjacent streets. Parked vehicles were destroyed and the street was rendered impassable. Red Crescent rescue worker Saeed Fereidounnejad, who was deployed to the scene, stated that the affected areas "were entirely civilian, there was no military presence." He described the site as one of the most distressing he encountered during the entire war: "innocent people had died under the rubble." One eyewitness, a middle-aged woman who rushed to the scene, cried out that she had lost her son; a second reported that fourteen members of a single family had been killed when the attack struck their apartment block. Twelve relatives of Hamid Reza Jalaiepour, a prominent Iranian sociologist and reformist political figure, were confirmed killed in the attack on Resalat. The post office building at the corner of the street was also damaged. Rescue and rubble-removal operations continued into the following morning. The attack was attributed to US-Israeli forces.
