Dariush Joudat: The Father Killed at the Dinner Table While Watching TV

Dariush Jawdat, approximately 50 years old, was killed while walking with his young daughter on a street in Narmak. A retired bank employee, Dariush is seen in published photos tenderly holding his daughter in his arms at their doorway—one of the few glimpses into his personal life.

While little is publicly known about Dariush’s life, many photos of his joint funeral with his daughter have been shared from Mazandaran, the northern province of Iran where he was born.

Residents of Mazandaran, along with colleagues from the bank where he had worked, gathered to honor and farewell him at the funeral—mourning a quiet, tragic loss that shook an entire community.
