Their story
Yousef Sobhani-Nasab (مهندس یوسف سبحانینسب) was a career meteorologist who devoted approximately 27 years of professional service to Iran's civil aviation and public weather infrastructure. He served as the Chief of the Synoptic Meteorological Station at Bushehr Airport — a critical facility that provided real-time atmospheric data for civil aviation safety, maritime operations, fisheries, and agricultural forecasting across the Persian Gulf region. Born in the Mahmoud Ahmadi rural area of Tangestan County in Bushehr Province, he was deeply connected to his home region. He was killed on March 23, 2026 — World Meteorology Day — while at his post during an air strike on the meteorological office building. At the moment of the strike, he was engaged in weather monitoring and observation, performing his humanitarian mission to protect the lives and property of fellow citizens against atmospheric hazards. Rokna His death prompted large public mourning ceremonies across Bushehr Province and Tangestan County. His family issued a public tribute noting that the attack on a civilian scientific facility exposed the falseness of claims that non-military centers would be spared. Ble The Minister of Housing and Urban Development and the head of Iran's Meteorological Organization both sent formal condolence messages.
